If there are any numbers that show what a community can do to help others, it's those.
The Blayney and Millthorpe communities have thrown their generosity and organisational skills together to help create an event that has pleasantly shocked and delighted organiser Heather Fillery who had an initial target of $10,000 in mind when she launched the idea back in March.
"I'm incredibly proud of what everyone has done," a very tired but elated Heather said to the swimmers and their supporters at the end of the swim on Sunday.
"Thanks to all the swimmers, their families, the businesses who donated prizes and to all the team captains who have worked so hard to keep their teams inspired.
"I really want to thank MS ambassador Mark Crockett who came all the way from Newcastle to be a part of the Mega Swim."

The teams were The Y, Triple F Threat, Blayney Dolphins and the Millthorpe Mermaids all captained by Katrina Chapman, Jo Copelin, Vanessa Knox and Heather Fillery respectively.
For all the swimmers though there was one who took out the most laps swum and the youth award and that goes to Blayney Dolphins member Lucy Allen who swum 282 laps or 7.05 kilometres.
Blayney Rotary kept the barbecue goodies coming, a cake stall kept the carb levels up and for Jo Copelin the exhaustion was well worth the result.
"The excitement takes over from the tiredness," she said. "I managed a 90 minute nap around midnight and managed 60 laps in my own special way."
As for future MS Mega Swims, Ms Fillery said that she would look at doing another swim in the future, but it wouldn't be an annual event.
"There are a lot of worthy charities in Blayney and we don't want to take from them so we'll look at doing another in a few years time,' she said.
