From chlorine rich to cloudy brown, for those with a refined palate water quality is a major issue.
The staff at Central Tablelands Water though are so enthusiastic about their water that a group of them have entered one litre into the Ixom 2021 Best Tasting Tap Water in Australia competition.

Ten water authorities from various regional and metropolitan areas are participating in the state heats where water samples will be judged on qualities like colour, clarity, odour and mouthfeel during blind taste tests.
General manager of CTW Gavin Rhodes said that the awards are a great opportunity to showcase the great quality of water coming out of Lake Rowlands.
"Our staff pride themselves on producing a quality product on a regular basis," he said.
"It was a staff member who put forward the idea of entering so it really speaks a lot for the pride they have in, and the commitment to produce, quality water."
The sample entered was taken from the filtration plant and is sent to Shepparton where, like a decent wine tasting, the sample will be blind tasted against the other eight entries from Orange, Cowra, Goldenfield Water County Council, Murray River Council, Albury City, Snowy Valleys -Khancoban, Walcha, Richmond Valley Council - Casino and Tyalgum in the Tweed Shire Council area.
The top drop from each state will be announced on Tuesday November 16 before the state winners battle it out for the top prize in Tasmania where last year's national champion and the winner of the 2021 Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition comes from.
The winner of the Ixom 2021 Best Tasting Tap Water in Australia competition will have bragging rights for the next 12 months and go on to represent Australia at the annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition held in West Virginia, USA.
Since the water at Lake Rowlands has been cascading over the walls for over 12 months, the amount of water that has gone into Coombing Creek has been substantial Mr Rhodes said.
"Over 11 times the capacity of Lake Rowlands has gone into environmental flows," he said.
