Blayney Early Learners' littlest learners had their first excursion down to the library recently and Blayney Librarian Ruth Bingham let the children choose any of the books to look at and read.
"Evidence shows that reading regularly to a child from birth gives them a head start once they start school," she said.
"Reading stimulates brain development, builds confidence, listening and communication skills, and helps create stronger resilience and adaptability as they grow and develop. That's why the library is passionate about early childhood reading programs."
"The sessions are lots of fun. We read stories, sings songs, play games and make craft items to take home."
"We cater for children from birth to 6 years, and their carers. Storytime is free and each session lasts about one hour," she said.
The sessions were put on hold due to COVID-19 and will now return with current NSW Public Health Orders to apply.
Attendees are reminded to show proof of their double vaccination (until 1 Dec), check-in, wear a face mask and use the hand sanitiser provided.
Also please arrive 10 minutes early to allow the event to run on time. The storyteller and audience are disrupted by people arriving late.
And please book your place by calling Blayney Library on 6368 2581 or visit www.cwl.nsw.gov.au and book online via the events page.
