The Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Transport, Paul Toole confirmed the project is part of the NSW Government's $50m Community Housing Innovation Fund (CHIF) invested into the regions which will see Housing Plus also invest $1.25M to build 12 homes across the Central West; four in Blayney, four in Forbes and four in Parkes by the end of 2022.
Mr Toole said the NSW Government is increasing the supply of social and affordable housing across the state and this project will provide a boost to supply in Blayney.
"It's great to see Housing Plus surging ahead with this project, which is one of dozens they are delivering as part of the SAHF across our region," he said.
"Through this program, tenants will not only get a roof over their head and a place to call home, but the tailored support and services they need to help them thrive."
Blayney Shire Council have worked in collaboration with Housing Plus to source suitable Council owned land within Blayney for two one-bedroom and two two-bedroom homes that will go to people on low to moderate incomes who are on the NSW Housing Register.
"The demand for housing in Blayney Shire is something we have not experienced, and many rental properties and house sales are sadly pricing good long-term tenants out of their homes," Blayney shire mayor, Scott Ferguson said.
"The diversity and inclusiveness of the community remains an important priority of Council, by providing new affordable social housing opportunities and we are pleased to partner with Housing Plus and support this project."
The land for this development is close to schools in Blayney and in close proximity to the Orange Road, sporting facilities and backs onto the proposed Beaufort Street Park.
