Due to the uncertainty of Covid19 restrictions and safety of all involved, the decision to launch a virtual ramble event is proving a great success, with viewers from all across Australia, plus England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy and Canada getting a glimpse of Millthorpe's wonderful variety of gardens on display.
The views have already been clocked in their thousands across a number of sites including the newly launched dedicated ramble web page, and the videos are available 24/7 with many being watched over and over again.
President of the Millthorpe Garden Ramble Committee Lyndall Harrison said that the committee is very pleased with the response of viewers from far and wide who took the opportunity to view the nine gardens without having to face the unsettled weather of the traditional ramble weekend.
"The response has certainly got the committee thinking on future formats," she said.
"But be assured we would definitely like to share the wonderful ambience of the village and the friendly atmosphere garden owners and the many volunteers provide when welcoming visitors to physically ramble once more, hopefully on the first weekend in November 2021."
Mrs Harrison said that the comments on the videos were all very positive.
Comments included, "I have just watched the garden tour again. That is twice today...and I suspect it will get another viewing before bedtime. I am loving the opportunity to view and view again as I keep noticing and hearing different things. It certainly motivates me to get out and get digging."
And another viewer wrote:
'Well done MGR committee. We have loved sitting up in bed with our coffee hot chocs virtually rambling and gathering ideas for our garden and what grows well in Millthorpe."
