There were no new cases identified in Blayney or the Cabonne shires.

The new case in Orange is a household contact of a previous COVID-19 case.

The 24-hour recording period to 8pm on Monday night, the death of an Aboriginal elder in Dubbo was also included. In total there was eight deaths in NSW in that period.

Case-wise, NSW had 1220 new cases of COVID-19.

Western's total was heavily back-ended by Dubbo, the Western NSW LHD major centre adding 18 to its total while more cases were recorded in Bourke (three), Narromine (three), Walgett (one) and Brewarrina (one).

Tuesday marked Orange's fourth consecutive day recording a case of COVID-19, while Bathurst has now had a run of three days without a single case, with both centres now making the most of vaccination hubs.

Of the new locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night:

NSW Health announced the deaths of eight people who had COVID-19, including an unvaccinated woman in her 70s at Dubbo Hospital.

The seven deaths in Sydney included a man in his 50s and another in his 60s. The rest were aged 70 or older.

The deaths brought the state's toll to 139 since June.

NSW has 1151 COVID-19 cases in hospital, including 192 in intensive care and 75 requiring ventilation.
