Locomotive 3801 was built in 1943 by Clyde Engineering and has been in preservation since its retirement from the NSW Railways in 1962. The locomotive was withdrawn from heritage service in 2007, as it required major boiler repairs.

After many delays including the importation and subsequent return of a German boiler that didn't meet Australian Standards, the original boiler was repaired by Ainsworths of Goulburn, with the boiler returning to the Chullora Railway Workshop on 1 July 2019.
Now commissioned and ready to go the 3801 will be making the climb up to the central west and will pull into Blayney station at 1.30pm for an hour before returning to Bathurst at 2.30pm.
Unfortunately rides to and from Blayney are not available, but an up close experience is guaranteed, as is a special 3801 operating model steam train exhibition, feature artist display, youth exhibition and history museum.
Entry is $5 for Adults and $3 for Concession.
