The late autumn weather has been glorious with crisp nights and warm, sunny days. The village has been thronged with visitors during the day and the past weekend has seen the five night-time venues: Railway and Commercial Hotels, Slow Wine, Club Millthorpe, and Tonic, all catering for the patrons in their respective styles.
Underpass Upgrade
The upgrade to the railway underpass connecting the village to Forest Reefs Road is virtually finished with the new kerb system and pedestrian pathway complete and open to traffic.
The project has been pushed along, with BSC council workers completing the job very efficiently. The new footpath, extending from Elliot Street to the intersection of Forest Reefs and Glenorrie Roads, now provides a safe and smooth walk for pedestrians.
National Volunteers Week
Last week the Golden Memories Museum celebrated the many volunteers who help the museum keep running. This includes the duty volunteers, catering committee, craft cottage attendants, gardening, cleaning, maintenance and special projects volunteers, education and collections committees, administrative and executive teams, and those who just help-out when they can. A wonderful group, carrying on the tradition which has been operating since 1964.
Pennant Bowling Team
For the first time in ten years, the Millthorpe Bowlers have reached the pennant competition level, to be held in July at Meriwella. The club is seeking community support to raise funds to help cover the considerable costs of travel and five night's accommodation.
A successful competition will help promote the club, one of the few remaining in the district. Any inquiries can be directed to the manager, Kelly, on 0438663631.
Friday Music
Tamburlaine Organic Wines will feature 'Mrs and Mr Wilby singing songs on a Friday...' on Friday 28 May, from 7.30pm, giving patrons a triple treat of music, food and wine.
The next Friday Night Live at Club Millthorpe will be on Friday 4 June, from 7.30pm. It's a popular event, with that great rule of thumb; 'Once more, with feeling!'
Bathurst Gold Country Rally
Golden Memories Museum hosted the Rally participants to a visit and lunch on Saturday 22 May.
Over 50 cars and 100 people arrived, parking at Redmond Oval on a beautiful autumn day. The cars were pre-1991 vintage, so a great range were assembled in categories according to age. The catering team at the museum earned high praise for the lunch they provided.
