Thanks to a shortage of teams in the Orange District Football Association A Grade competition the organisers have merged both A and B grades into the one competition, and the Blayney B grade side are really getting into it.
"They are really enjoying it and it gives the boys an opportunity to step up and for it to be more of a challenge for them," said the club's treasurer Rebecca Scott.
"We hope that we get an A-grade team for them eventually. We'd really like to see that happen."
IN OTHER SPORT:
Blayney played a solid match on Saturday against a Millthorpe team that found the Blayney side's goalkeeper Ryan Palmer a difficult man to pass.
"Ryan is a great, reliable player who has been a real asset to the club over the past few years," Scott said, a sentiment that Nic Smith, the captain of the Millthorpe Tigers side agreed with.
"He was really hard to get past," he said. "Blayney didn't attack much but they did well in defence and kept most of our shots out. He was the reason it was only one nil at half time."
The win against Blayney marks the first of the season for the Tigers who have, like all clubs, been struggling with numbers every weekend.
This Saturday Blayney will be at home against Barnies United A at 3.15 and Millthorpe will be in Cowra.
