"Julia thinks it's hilarious," Luke said. "I find it daunting. It's certainly not within my comfort zone. It's a lot different to anything else that I've ever done."
For Julia dance is part of her being and has been for many years, although seeing her dad trying to cut some moves isn't.
"It's quite entertaining for me because it's like a normal day at dance, but I have my dad here embarrassing himself."
As a boxer and fitness fan Luke is not exactly struggling with the strength part of dance, although the coordination and movements are testing his body.
"It's really different though because I pulled my neck last week doing some crazy move that I don't know how to do, and I still don't know how to do," he said. "This has really exhausted my dancing repertoire."
Luke used to drive Julia to dance and now Julia is driving him towards learning the steps and language of dance at Emdance in Blayney.
"Emma will say something in French and the girls will all go into a position, and us blokes will be just standing there," Luke said.
Those "blokes" are another group of anonymous dancers who have put their hands up to help fill out the dance floor, and have a pile of fun.
With a goal of $5,000 to raise, the pair are turning towards the generous hearts of the Blayney community to help push the total even further.
"Like all families we've had cancer in ours, not as bad as many, but it's still there, so of course we want to beat that total and raise as much as we can," Luke said.
The familiar yellow Cancer Council boxes are now scattered throughout the town for donations and they're planning a few other events before the big night on June 26.
"People can donate on the Stars of Orange website and look for our name or come to the trivia night that we'll be holding soon," Julia said.
