What about our average age, how many families are there and are there more men or more women in town?
Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) has partnered with Blayney Health Council and Blayney Shire Council to produce a snapshot of the health of the Blayney Local Government Area.

Orange and Oberon LGAs are also available for viewing, and they make interesting reading.
The median age in NSW is 38 years, in Blayney it's 42, Oberon 45 and Orange it's 37.
For the single ladies, Oberon is the place to be. The split between male and females is 49.8 per cent men in Blayney, 52 per cent males in Oberon and 48.8 per cent men in Orange.
Blayney's biggest health problem is our weight.
Data from our medical practices show 46 per cent are overweight and 16 per cent of patients have been diagnosed with a mental health condition.
Fifteen per cent of patients have been diagnosed with two or more chronic conditions.
Eight per cent of patients are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus, 27 per cent of patients have been diagnosed with high blood pressure and eight per cent of patients have been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease.

Blayney sits below the ABS Index of Socio-economic Disadvantage for NSW of 1002 with a score of 982, but above that of Oberon with 969 and Orange with 978.
When it comes to how we see ourselves though a recent survey showed that only 53 per cent of those surveyed in Blayney rated their health and wellbeing as good or excellent.
46 per cent of people reported cancer as the most serious health concern facing the community.
Oberon was higher than the state average of 73 per cent with 77 and Orange was high also with 75 per cent.
Culturally we are 85.8 per cent Australian born in Blayney, our unemployment level is only 5.8 per cent compared to 6.3 nationally and our crime rates are below the state average.
Orange has higher crime rates, higher unemployment at 6.5 per cent and higher rates of domestic and non-domestic assault compared to the state average.
An interesting note was the acknowledgement of Blayney's ageing population.
It's predicted that by 2036 27 per cent of residents will be aged 65 or more years noting that 'Ageing population needs considered as part of the proposed redevelopment of the Blayney Health Service.'
