As housing and construction increases along the lane, traffic flows have increased and the first stage of a plan to help make the road safer and more amenable has been funded by the federal government to the value of $11,000.
On Wednesday Member for Calare Andrew Gee was shown the first stage of the project which is to clear the sides of the western end of the east-west section of the lane, by Millthorpe Village Committee members Sue Marsh and Nick Anagnostaras.
"We want to clear out the weeds and rabbits along this section to make it more accessible and safer for walkers," Mrs Marsh said.

Once the weeds and pests are removed the plan is re-introduce local native trees and shrubs into the area, as well as a few lay-over areas for those taking a stroll.
"It's so if a car comes along people can safely step off the road," Mrs Marsh said.
