Most members left feeling rather exhausted after hearing from our guest speaker Belinda Satterthwaite who certainly has high energy levels. Belinda now resides in Carcoar in the old flour mill and runs Tomolly.
She grew up in Broken Hill, spent three years travelling and working around Australia with her husband Steve and lived and worked in a number of places whilst travelling.
Belinda is a trained nurse but because of her love of interiors, studied design in Sydney, which led to the opening her shop Tomolly in Millthorpe.
When she moved to Carcoar, she found that her business followed her. Apart from sales through her shop front, she has over 11,000 followers on Instagram and Facebook and this has become a large part of her business.
Belinda recently expanded into the shop next door and from there has facilitated a series of workshops including leatherwork, weaving, photography, flower arranging and arm knitting.
Members appreciated Belinda's gift of a cake of hand made soap each and I'm sure that anyone who has not visited her shop, will do so in the near future. Belinda was thanked by Cazzie Hedge.
It has been a successful year for Blayney VIEW club in terms of raising funds. At this point we find ourselves in the position of having funds in excess of what is needed for our two Learning For Life students and it was decided at our dinner meeting to sponsor another student for one year.
This is a great effort as the VIEW Club does not do any fund raising as such. We simply pay $25 for our meal each month, of which $5 goes to our Learning for Life programme. If you would like to be part of this lovely club you can contact our President Sue on 0429 464 205.
Our next dinner meeting will be our Christmas dinner on Tuesday, December 17 at the Mandurama Hotel, where our dedicated chef Kathryn will cater for us.
We're most appreciative of Kathryn being prepared to 'stick with us' as we search for a new permanent venue for our dinners. Members who are unable to attend this dinner are required to let Ros know by Friday, December 13 on 0412 291 054.
