For all the talk about the Giants' physical mauling of the Western Bulldogs in last week's elimination final, their midfield coach Lenny Hayes notes they also dominated play.

The Giants are known as a fleet of Ferraris for their talent, but last Saturday showed they have teeth as well.

Hayes said brawn alone won't be enough against the Lions, noting they finished equal-top for a reason.

He was speaking before the Giants had a captain's run on Friday afternoon at The Gabba.

"If we don't play that way, we won't win tomorrow night," he said of their physical aggression against the Bulldogs.

"You need to be ruthless at the contest and we were last week.

"We also won a lot more of the football than the Bulldogs, too, so it wasn't just us playing the man.

"They've done a lot right and they're a very good side."

Brisbane beat GWS by 20 points at Giants Stadium in round 14 and Hayes said they took plenty from that match.

"They were much stronger than us around the ball, so we probably learned as much out of that game as we have looked at anyone else who have played them," he said.

"Brisbane, they're strong enough, they're not going to get rattled by any of that sort of behaviour.

"Our focus will be on winning the football, as it always is, and if they win it we'll go pretty hard at them."

While Toby Greene was referred to the tribunal and fined heavily, Hayes does not expect him to soften his game much.'

"He's going to get in there, no doubt," Hayes said.

"With what happened ... he came out, he apologised, he understands he went a little bit too far and he copped his right whack.

"From that moment on, we've moved on. We love the way he goes about it.

"Every now and again, does he step over the line a little bit? Yeah, he does - but it's also finals footy, the loser's out, so we're going to bring it".
