If you're not a regular walker of Blayney shire's streets, you may not realise that many of the footpaths are missing on some of the more popular routes.

One such missing link is on Binstead Street between Burton and Raphael Streets and Councillor Bruce Reynolds said that council's access committee had requested that the footpath be built, signalling a change in the way that decisions on footpath building and maintenance is carried out.

"It's always been up to the council's staff to decide footpath priorities," Cr Reynolds said. "Now though we're taking a more strategic approach to which footpaths need to be built and which ones will most benefit the community."
Another path to have the missing links filled in is Blake Street in Millthorpe.
"This path will allow visitors and locals to safely walk all the way around that block where otherwise they had bricks and uneven grass," Cr Reynolds said.
Carcoar and Mandurama will also receive new footpaths with one being built between the Mandurama Hotel and Memorial Park and another in front of Carcoar Public School.
Cr Reynolds also said that a concerted effort would be made to repair and restore current paths.
"The staff will be grinding off the yellow hazard markings on footpaths, helping to make them safer for everyone," he said.
