When it comes to getting fit and healthy, spring is the perfect time to bring some serious changes to our bodies.

As part of the Blayney Chronicles continued support of the Healthy and Happy Wellness Challenge we'll be featuring local health initiatives on this page up until the end of the program.

Yoga has numerous benefits to both the body and the mind and this Sunday at the Blayney Farmers' Market in Carrington Park there will be a free yoga session available for all.

Starting at 9am the sessions are for both seasoned yoga lovers and those wondering if it's for them.

Kate Toole from CentrePoint, who runs regular yoga sessions at CentrePoint, will be holding the session just outside the pool fence on Osman Street.

Ten benefits of yoga are

  1. Improve flexibility, strength, and posture
  2. Better all-round fitness
  3. Weight loss
  4. Increase your energy
  5. Reduce stress
  6. Breathe better
  7. Be happier
  8. Become more mindful
  9. Improve concentration and think clearer
  10. Live longer

Other free yoga sessions will be held on the 20th of October and 17th of November.

Yoga mats will be provided.

Afterwards take a stroll through the Blayney Farmer's Market for a delicious breakfast, morning tea or lunch.

Health and Wellbeing Information Night - Sept 18

The correct information and support is the key to achieving real long-term health outcomes and this Wednesday September 18 there will be an information night at the Blayney Community Centre that will help dispel some of your health concerns and get some real advice on what's best for you, rather than the snake-oil peddled by many online 'experts'.

The sessions run from 6pm through to 7.30 and it's free to attend.

FREE GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

As well as the yoga class this Sunday, Kate Toole from CentrePoint will be running a Functional Bootcamp session on Wednesday September 18 at 10am.

Functional Bootcamp helps you fulfil everyday activities with greater ease and strength.
