The Carcoar Urban Landcare Group is seeking volunteers to join them for a planting day/training session to be held on Thursday, August 8 at 10am. The planting session will take place at the stage two section of the Revive Project at Pound Flat along the Belubula behind the Showground. Carcoar Creatives
People keen to take on new hobbies have been flocking to Carcoar's new creative space. Organised by Belinda from Tomolly, the various workshops, ranging from arm knitting to basket weaving and everything inbetween , have been very popular. "I love that we've created an intimate space," says Belinda, "where you can take time to pause and get your creative side happening it's beautiful to laugh, meet new people and enjoy the company of others as you learn a new skill." 'Wilderness Chef' and a 'Fiery Night'
The local food scene continues to thrive with the announcement that Cooper Thomas, 'the Wilderness Chef', will be taking the Royal Hotel dining experience to a new level from late August. The Royal is excited to work with Cooper who is passionate about creating incredible food, produced in a sustainable and ethical manner. To assist in bringing this vision to life Alana from Dunkeld Farm will also be joining the Royal team to help them create their very own market garden on the grounds which will supply the pub kitchen with an abundance of seasonal produce.
Also, at the end of August, the Royal Hotel Carcoar will be hosting a 'Fiery Night Fundraiser' for the Blayney Fire and Rescue on Saturday, August 31. In addition to great food from the 'Wilderness Chef' the evening will feature live music from Thousand Rivers and a DJ from 10pm. Tickets $85 fromstickytickets.com.
McPhillamy's Mine Information Meeting
A public meeting and information night will be held at the Royal Hotel Carcoar on Thursday, July 25 at 6pm in regards to the proposed McPhillamys Gold Project. Spokesperson for the Belubula Headwaters Protection Group, Ruth Stone, said that "the evening is about giving the community an insight into the mine and understanding its impacts." This will also be an opportunity to bring your concerns to the table and learn more about what this means for your river. Council and Regis representatives have also been invited to attend.
