Millthorpe's Little Learning Centre have claimed the award of Outstanding Business at the 2019 Orange Business Awards.

Director of the centre Emma Harrison-Smith said that the win came as a complete surprise.

"We were completely stunned," she said. "We thought it would be nice to walk away with a highly commended, but to walk away with the big prize was mind-blowing."

Not only did they win the major prize, they also won the Excellence in Education and special awards for two members of staff.

Maddison McDonald was 2019's best new recruit whilst the highly commended award for outstanding employee was won by Corinne Kable.

Mrs Harrison-Smith said that not only did they offer all the facilities of a big centre but in a smaller home like environment, there was also an emphasis on staff development.

"We're doing as much professional development as we can over the next 12 months to keep us ahead of the game," she said.
