Under-8 Wildcats
The little stars came up against a very well drilled Barnie Raiders.
We started a little short but had some excellent help from Lachlan, Digby, Beau and Taylor.
As per normal Cooper led from the front with some excellent foot work. Garth had a couple of great line breaks but they couldnt have done it without the stand out defence from Johnnie and Lachlan. Cartman stood out in goalie with some great saves.
It might have been a loss on points but they are getting better and better each week well done kids. Cooper played so well he was named player of the week
Under-8 Phoenix
Saturday morning and glorious conditions for the Phoenix to take on a very strong Waratahs team.. After a good win over Millthorpe the week prior the Phoenix were primed.
Ollie took on the role of goal keeper and put in an outstanding display turning away the Waratahs attack with some cracking saves.. Beau had another super game attacking Waratahs with some great runs and tackling hard against some much bigger opponents.
Lilly had an excellent defensive game tackling with venom and showing some nice touch with a lovely little flick of the ball that any superstar would be proud of. She also took a vicious ball to the chest but showed great courage to continue on with the game.. Digby with his never give up attitude scored another nice goal and Waratahs were stunned to be trailing at the break.
Tayla who keeps improving every week was unstoppable up front and again was very unlucky not to get a goal with some great long runs. Rhys with some fancy foot work had his best game of the year and adds energy to his team whenever he is on.
Myles had a much better performance in the warmer weather and was happy to take on some very aggressive tactics from Waratahs and showed without a doubt he is not to be pushed around.
Lachie who was in absolutely everything from defending his goals to making some great runs was undeniablely the coaches award winner with a fantastic display of all round soccer.
The Phoenix should be super proud of their efforts this week and are becoming a fantastic little team who work together well and who are playing well as a team rather than individuals.
Under-9 Spirit
Blayney under 9s Spirit played at home against Waratah Warriors on Saturday. We had a full team again and were ready for a awesome game.
Andre and Casey already played with under 9s Pumas, so they were pumped to play their game.
1st half saw Andre in goals with the formidable trio Lilly, Archer and Chevy up the back working great together in defence, Karter was mid and Hamish and Georgie up front pushing forward. Karter was really impressive getting to every ball, he certainly came into his own.
Casey came on and brought some energy and fire, determined to help his teammates. There was a few very close shots at goals by Hamish and Georgie but they missed by millimetres, Andre saved a couple of goals with lightning quick hands, but by halftime the warriors were up by two goals.
Second half Georgie was in goal with Hamish, Karter and Casey were fantastic up the back in defense, protecting the goals with everything they had, Chevy was in mid and was everywhere the ball was, Andre and Archer up front and getting past the warriors hard defence a few times and again, nearly scoring but just missing. The team was exhausted at the end they left nothing in the tank, very proud of their never give up attitude but the Warriors were too good on the day and won 3-0
Player of the week went to Casey he was fantastic on the defence
Under-10s Roar
Under-10s Blayney Roar played their first home game of the season on a warm sunny morning. The game got off to a quick start and KWS Roar scored in the first few minutes of the game.
Blayney Roar followed with two quick goals by Angus. Spencer played goalie in the first half and had some great saves. The defence was strong with Henry, James, Elijah and Cameron all blocking the ball from KWS attack and kicking it back to our attackers.
Emma did some great long passes and there was an attempt at goal but was stopped by KWS Roar. Emma and Maggie had some good touches on the pass and then after a throw in by Olivia followed by a big kick to Angus, Blayney Roar scored.
Henry moved up front and had some big runs and fancy footwork! A great pass by Cameron and good run from Henry and Henry added one more goal before halftime.
In the second half, the team continued their teamwork with more great passes from Elijah, Spencer, Maggie and Cameron. This teamwork and passing paid off when Spencer kicked a goal in. Not long after, Olivia passed down the field and Cam attempted a goal with ball bouncing around with James shooting a second shot, then third time lucky with Angus finishing it off.
Maggie, James, Dray and Spencer all had good passes, and this was followed by persistent Cameron placing a goal. The final goal saw most of Blayney Roar touching the ball on the way down the field and Spencer scoring. The man of the match this week went to Spencer for his great saves as goalie in first half and great teamwork, passing and impressive goals in the second half.
Blayney Roar have been showing excellent teamwork and we were impressed how they held their positions and passed the ball around. Well done Blayney Roar on another great game to watch!
Under-11 Glory
On a beautiful sunny morning the Glory played their first home game of the season; they took on Millthorpe in the derby of the small towns. With no less than six Rep-players in their squad Millthorpe are one of the bigger forces in the comp and proved that from the word-go.
Just like last weeks game it was a match with two sides. In the first half the Glory got overrun and Millthorpe took a decent lead. The second half was much more balanced and despite the fact Millthorpe had all the pressure Blayney had their defence much better in order and pretty much kept them out for the bulk of the half.
Glory kicked the game off with Nate and Aidan Hunter as forwards with Matthew close behind to feed them the passes. Stirling and Jayden positioned on the wings and Diesel led a solid back line in front of goalie Harley with Aiden Burns and Caleb as left- and right back.
Millthorpe kicked the game off and immediately showed they didn't come here to make friends. In the opening minute Harley kept a powerful shot out by punching it on the bar.
The rebound hit the post and Harley was able to dive on the loose ball. It was the start of a busy time for Harley and a bombardment on the Glory goal in which Diesel, Aiden Burns and Caleb copped so much pressure, the midfield of Matthew, Stirling and Jayden spent most of the first half defending, leaving the forwards Nate and Aidan Hunter somewhat stranded.
It was not until midway the first half the Glory got a bit of grip on the game when Nate and Aidan dropped to meet the ball, and Matthew was able to put through the deadly passes that hurt Millthorpe so much in last year's edition. With one of those splitting passes Aidan Hunter ran clear on goal and so deserved to score but his shot blasted onto the post.
Late into the first half the Glory was able to apply some pressure which resulted in a few corners. One of those was met by Nate and cruelly hit the post. The last corner of the half was the highlight of the match and left all spectators in awe as Matthew curved the corner kick perfectly into the far top corner.
In the second half there was a few positional changes. Nate went back into his more comfortable fullback position and Diesel swapped him out to play striker.
Harley and Aidan Hunter also made their familiar swap. The midfield stayed as it was and Sarah joined the defence line as Millthorpe requested to play 10v10. The half was much more in balance with Glory absorbing the pressure so much better. Millthorpe still pushed hard for goals but Aidan Hunter had another great game in the goal and once again deserved a clean sheet, only to be beaten in the last play of the game.
His resets of the game were great, allowing Sarah and Aidan Burns to feed balls upfield to Matthew and Diesel. Jayden played well once he moved up the field, as did Stirling who naturally still drops back into a defending position where he excelled for most of last year. Once Stirling did move up, he managed to disrupt Millthorpe's strong midfield a few times.
Caleb lost concentration at the start, but redeemed himself in the second half and proved a good asset in defence. His big moment came when he managed to block an attempt at a spectacular bicycle kick from one of the Millthorpe strikers.
Harley ran his heart out at the front and Diesel also worked tirelessly throughout the game and had a few cracking shots from way out and is generally dominating in possession. The best chance for Glory in the second half came with an indirect free kick just outside the box. Harley tapped to Matthew who lifted the shot over the bar.
Aiden Burns got player of the week for working hard for the team, doing his job as right back very well.
Under-11 Jaguars
Saturday saw the Blayney Jaguars take on the Warratah Titans at Warratahs.
Georgia had a great game, she kept up with the ball, had some good kick chase combo's and passes.
Asher initiated quite a few plays , moved the ball up to the jaguars goal and capitalized, scoring two goals while Jai took part in defending the titans goal, buffering the ball away from the goals to the side of field. He placed himself well, as learnt in training.
Jack also had a cracking game in defence he had some big kicks and when asked moved up to centres. Jack had a tumble but got up, assessed himself and got on with the game
Patrick was a crucial all-rounder this week running down a lot of balls and taking the game to the titans, at one point pat passed the ball onto a team mate in front of goals.
Charie played quite the game this week, she just seemed to be everywhere on the field. , where it counted , she helped set up walls of defence, she harassed the opposition with the ball and offered support to teammates who ran the ball up, which payed off.
Charlie placed herself near jaguars goal when a teammate passed the ball onto her, she kept her composure under pressure and scored her first goal of the year. On ya charlie. These qualities earned charlie the player of the week medal.
Under-12 Lions
Early Saturday morning Blayney Lions were up against Kinross. It was a quick paced game with Kinross scoring once in the first 15 minutes.
Excellent play in the midfeild by Riley, Liam, Hugo and Sarah, resulted in Blayney getting one back very quickly. Both teams were then all tied up, our forwards Kade and Brayden being held back by the defence and out defence line putting in some serious work keeping Kinross from getting another goal.
At half time we had our keeper Levi come out of goals, switching Neo to play in the feild. With that change and a couple others, finding Leyton and Braeden in the attacking line on the second half, and a few great runs by Jayden we were getting closer to finishing a second goal.
In the last 10 minutes fatigue got the better of Blayney and Kinross scored 2 more goals to finish the game.
Player of the week went to Braeden Priest for his excellent effort in defending the first half, backed up by playing even better in the second half when he was put into an attacking position.
Really well done by all! Getting better each week.
