Blayney High School’s construction team were onsite at Lee Hostel on Wednesday December 12 to build not only the superb Backyard Chicken Coops chookhouse, but also to build a path for the residents to stroll on.
Construction teacher Clint Giddings said that the community had once again helped out.
“Thanks to Lee Hostel for lunch, Josh Nixon Excavation, and Michael and the team from Hanson’s Concrete for their assistance,” he said.
The chickens are all part of the hostel’s pet therapy program and already the general manager of the centre Paige Kildae is impressed by how well the residents have adopted them.
“They’ve given them names, bring them inside, talk to them and are making sure they have enough water and also clean their nesting boxes.
The chicks were donated to the hostel by the Price family.
