This year there are two pairs of gardens in the village that are sharing the one entry ticket.
One pair is that of John and Linda Oxley on Park Street who have rejuvenated the back of the garden whilst simultaneously working on a home renovation.
“It was very neglected,” Linda said of the rear of the yard, an area that sits about one metre above the lawn.
Apart from the plum, apricot, nectarine and fig trees, the yard has been replanted as a cottage garden that’s all chemical free and is abuzz with life.
“We have our own bee-hive down in the back corner so we don’t use any pesticides whatsoever in the garden,” Linda said.
The original timber frames that held the soil back have been replaced with blue stone blocks uncovered during the renovation process.
The Oxley garden is right next door to that of Hockey’s Accommodation, another for the small garden enthusiasts.
The other pair of small gardens are that of Nick and Kelly Anagnostaras on Cowper Street and diagonally across from them are James Fisher and Emma Hancock on Crowson Street.
The gardens are open from 10am to 4pm on both days.
