Discovering that the school had no recycling bins in the playground, the students decided to write a series of letters to Blayney mayor Scott Ferguson to request for some recycling bins be installed in the playground.
Their teacher Lisa Roffe said that the students had each written a letter to Cr Ferguson requesting that recycling bins were placed around the school grounds in addition to the usual waste bins. They also took their actions out into the wider Millthorpe community.
“The class also made posters about ways to help save the world and visited local businesses asking them to display the posters,” Mrs Roffe said.
Chris Dart from EnviroCom Australia was on hand to teach the students about recycling and also to test their skills when it comes to deciding what goes into the yellow bin, and what goes into the red.
