In its place is a new $3 million corner that will now allow a safer view both west and north from those exiting Hobby’s Yards Road, and an easier corner for the 400 trucks that use the corner every day.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said that the intersection was one of the busiest and most treacherous along the highway.
“Three million dollars is a lot of money, but it is an investment into a section of road that is going to be used by 4,000 vehicles a day and ten per cent of those are trucks going to places like the saleyards in Carcoar,” he said.
“The camber needed to be addressed and it was always a very dangerous corner.”
