Members from the Transport for NSW project team conducted a community meeting on Wednesday, July 25 at the Millthorpe Golden Memories Museum. The professional and detailed presentation by the planning team on the design features and heritage issues was appreciated, and a spirited question and answer session followed. Questions ranged from design issues to practical concerns about ticketing, toilets and maintenance. The project is on track to be completed by March 2019. Surplus funds will be transferred to Blayney Council for additional improvements to Millthorpe Station.

NBN Upgrade of Millthorpe Tower
The NBN is to undertake an upgrade of the existing radio (wireless) network base station tower located at 24 Elliott Street Millthorpe. Proposed works at the existing facility will involve the removal of existing panel antennas and the installation of new ones, the installation of Remote Radio Units, and the installation of associated ancillary equipment. The utilisation of advanced technology to provide high quality wireless broadband services to customers in the Millthorpe area will be of great benefit to domestic and business users.
Millthorpe Fire Festival
Millthorpe’s Winter Fire Festival on Friday, August 3 promises to be magical, with hand-crafted fire buckets and the night market bringing light and life to Pym Street between 5:30pm-8:30pm. Care when close to the fire-buckets is of course a must. A fireworks display, located on the eastern hillside above the Blayney Road, is programmed for around 7:45pm. The popular, talented Bathurst duo, ‘Smith and Jones’, will provide music.
Friday Night Live will be back at Club Millthorpe on Friday August 3, starting at the later time of 8.30pm after the fireworks display. FNL are musicians who play great acoustic versions of classic songs so why not wander down after the Fire Festival.
Millthorpe Historical Society
The Millthorpe Historical Society has been successful in obtaining a grant from a NSW Government Regional Cultural Fund to digitise the collection. The project will catalogue the entire collection onto a new data base over the next two years. Hayley Lavers will head this exciting project, commencing July 26, and a call for volunteers to help with data entry is expected.
