Tilburg was presented with a life membership citation during the recent state trials in Toronto.
“I’ve coached a lot of the regional teams, school teams and CHS 18’s and development squads since 2001,” he said.
“It’s nice to be recognised for the work that you’ve done over the years.”
What brings Tilburg though the greatest joy is helping develop players.
“It’s great to see some of the players that we’ve had in CHS go on to play NRL,” he said.
Also Tilburg believes that the experience of playing within the CHS structure benefits the students.
“CHS is a very traditional organisation and there is a lot of pride involved in playing rugby league at that level,” he said.
His most recent event was the high school’s girls touch side who unfortunately were outclassed by an efficient Matraville Sports High School side.
