The historic book launch, the Millthorpe garden ramble with art trail, back to Millthorpe school celebrations and picnic day and the official opening of the stone wall are all part of the month of celebrations.
Eighty four historic homes from 1826 to 1934 across the district are featured in the “Historic Homes of Millthorpe and District” book to be launched on Saturday 28 October.
Historical Society of Millthorpe and District, Chairman, John Willing stated that twelve months of work from a dedicated committee compiled hundreds of photos, research and stories woven in around the homes to produce a comprehensive collection and historical history.
“Each story portrays a personal account from the owners about the home’s history, structure, occupants and style including Vernacular, Colonial, Victorian, Federation and many more. The committee has worked tirelessly to complete what is a wonderful resource,” Mr Willing said.
The book is currently in final print production with all profits directed to the Millthorpe Golden Memories Museum.
“The launch of the book begins all the 150 anniversary celebrations for Millthorpe and is being held at the Museum on Saturday 28 October,” said Willing.
“500 copies of the book have been ordered – with 200 already pre-ordered, so it’s a matter of getting in quick.”

RAMBLE IN THE GARDENS
The Millthorpe Garden Ramble on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November is the village's largest community fund raising event each year attracting close to 2000 people and raising money for the Millthorpe local community.
Each year, ten gardens open their grounds to the many garden lovers across Australia.
Chairman of the Millthorpe Garden Ramble, Lyndall Harrison said that this year is particularly special with the 150 celebrations.
“With the launch of the “Historic Homes of Millthorpe and District” book tied into the 150 anniversary, the garden ramble has included open days for some of the historic homes featured in this book,” she said. We are so grateful to the owners of the gardens and houses to allow garden and history lovers access to their otherwise private properties.”
