Describing himself as someone who can turn beer and pizza into sex appeal, Blayney’s Benjamin Pettit hasn’t thrown just his hat into the ring, but most of his other clothes are in there as he attempts to claim the crown of Australia’s Most Ordinary Rig.

The nationwide competition, run by Budgy Smugglers and in its second year, seeks entrants who are, according to entry criteria, “so ordinary they are extraordinary”.
“It really was just a spur of the moment thing,” he said.
Orange resident and Central Western Daily sports journalist Matt Findlay was a finalist in last year’s inaugural competition and he had some encouraging words for the Blayney upstart.
“Don’t hold back, just let it all hang out,” Mr Findlay said.
Mr Pettit will have to best a massive field to progress to the pageant-style final at Sydney’s Ivy Pool on January 3.
Should he do so he’ll join the other finalists in completing a runway walk in their tight-fitting swimmers.
“I think that I’m really going to have to work on my dance routine,” Mr Pettit said.
