September’s winners of the Blayney’s Sports Awards have been announced on the eve of one of Blayney’s biggest nights.

The annual gala dinner is set down for October 29, the awards will recognise the best of the community’s efforts.
The final monthly winners ahead of the annual gala dinner include junior athlete Geroge Wakem. League tag player Olivia Bird who won the senior award, while lawn bowler Jim Russell won the veteran category.
Sarah Wakem was named volunteer winner for September and the Blayney’s premiership winner league tag players won the team award.
Blayney Shire’s Sports Council chairman David Kingham said Australian test cricket umpire Darrell Hair would be the guest speaker. Mr Hair will be interviewed by Daily Telegraph sports reporter Barry Toohey.
‘’The presentation dinner will be held at the Blayney Community Centre on Saturday, October 29 commencing at 7pm,” Councillor Kingham said.
“A two course meal will be served and a bar will be open. Tickets are available from the Shell service station in Adelaide Street for $40 for adults and $25 for 17-years-old and younger.
“Yearly winners will be announced from the 12 monthly winners in each category of junior, senior, veteran, teams and volunteer.
“Each category winner will win a cash prize of $500 and this year an extra award is being made to the Blayney sportsperson of the year.”
Cr Kingham thanked the 32 Blayney businesses that provided the sponsorship to make these awards possible and urged them also to be present on the night to see if their monthly award winner wins the yearly award.
