The accident occurred at about 11.30am on Monday when the truck and dog trailer failed to negotiate a left hand bend near the intersection of Chifley Road (Bells Line) and Mort Street.
The out of control rig narrowly missed an oncoming car before overturning, spilling tonnes of logs from the Newnes State Forest across the roadway.
The driver was freed from the wreck and taken to Lithgow Hospital with injuries currently unknown.
The smash is expected to close the intersection for several hours and traffic is being diverted around residential streets.
Accident investigators from Bathurst are on their way to the scene.
Bells Line of Road is closed in both directions at Bell and RTA Live Traffic have encouraged motorists to avoid the area.
Heavy vehicles should use Great Western Highway and Darling Causeway.
Light vehicles can use the Hartley Vale Road and Mort Street.
