The Finn Store owner never thought he would be having casual morning conversation with Hugo Weaving or watching Nicole Kidman drive by in an Audi, but since last Friday he has grown accustomed to living life on a movie set.
“It’s a lot of fun ... It’d be great if it was an annual thing,” he said.
Mr Yeo has been serving coffee next door to Strangerland headquarters and remarked about how organised the team was.
He thinks he has served nearly all the cast and crew, except Nicole Kidman.
“Hugo’s been a regular,” he said.
At that point, Jac Carroll, who had been sitting on a lounge quietly listening to Mr Yeo, jumped up and said he felt like he was living in a wonderful fantasy land.
“I love Hugo Weaving, I love Nicole Kidman and I love Joseph,” he said.
“I love them all and it is totally cool that they’re here.”
Anna Ross and baby Luke were about to settle in to the Finn Store with a milkshake to watch the filming of a scene set in a dust storm, but Ms Ross had already had her brush with fame.
She said she had a beer or two with Hugo Weaving at the pub on Friday night.
“Apparently it was his birthday so people were buying him beers, but then he bought everyone else a beer,” she said.
“He’s really good, he’s just like another bloke at the pub.”
Mr Yeo said the film had already brought great business to town and it was not due to be released for about 12 months.
He said he was usually busy, but with the film crew rolling in there were always hangers on, such as the media, who popped in for a coffee.
“It’s made the whole town bigger,” he said.
