After the show was cancelled in 2016 because of the rain, the 2017 Trunkey Creek show has been hailed as one of, if not the best, in a very long time.

Organiser Peggy O’Brien said that the visitor numbers were well up on previous shows and everyone there was showing a real interest in what the show had to offer.
“The bar was set when Dick Smith came to visit, but I think that we did even better than that,’ she said.
Feedback from the visitors, many who travelled from Mudgee, Orange, the Hunter Valley and Kandos, pointed towards how well the show flowed.
“Everyone was simply engaging in all the things that were on offer, and they were impressed with just how much there was to see,” she said.
Ms O’Brien said that considering the fact it is the Wool and Horse Festival, it is worth noting the huge entries in both areas.
“Entries in the wool section were far above past years and the quality was exceptional,” she said.
“Graeme Boon as wool steward did an exceptional job and he even had a visitor from Hunter Valley remark on the extraordinarily high quality of fleeces.
“Horse numbers were also up and all involved had a great day This was especially pleasing with Cowra Show on same weekend but is largely due to the efforts of Horse Steward Karen Noonan.
Indicators of success were the highest gate takings on record, no parking at all available in the village, and one other special sign of success.
“The beer tent run out of beer and they had to go and get some more,” Peggy laughed.
