August is National Family History and Genealogy month and the Blayney Shire Local and Family History Group are asking the public to bring in any old photos that they may have for scanning.

Member Rhonda Jones said that everything is history and what may seem inconsequential to the owner, could have deep historical importance.

“Anything from the first day at school to Anzac day parades, school and church picnics, sporting clubs, family transport, they all have some kind of importance in our history,” she said.

As part of National Family History and Genealogy month the Blayney Chronicle will be publishing an interesting photograph, and the story behind it every week.

They meet at the library on the second Wednesday of every month at 10am.
