The working group recommended that council enter into sale negotiations with the Tier 1 accredited not-for-profit organisation that has a strong reputation for providing affordable tenancy and property management services across the central west.
Blayney mayor Scott Ferguson said that council would now seek feedback from the Millthorpe community.
“We’re now seeking feedback on this proposal from the Millthorpe Village Committee, the residents of Inala Units, Millthorpe and the wider community,” he said.
“A final report will be prepared for the August Council meeting for determination.”
Cr Ferguson said that Housing Plus supported both council’s and the Millthorpe Village Committee’s objective of maintaining the Inala units as affordable housing complex.
To help lower the cost for the residents, Housing Plus have proposed a number of cost saving initiatives including solar panels, energy efficient appliances and a community garden.
Current residents will also have their existing rental contributions and tenancy arrangements maintained whilst also seeing an improvement in services including connecting tenants with local support services.
“Housing Plus will ensure that the Inala units remain a stable, secure and affordable housing option for older and disadvantaged residents within our shire into the future,” he said.
