It was too close for comfort for many but Group 10 held it together to win the Country Rugby League’s under 15s plate at the Country Championship finals at Cessnock on Saturday.

The Group 10 side came up against the Group 21 team, based around the Hunter valley and enjoying a home town advantage, and snuck in with a 12-10 win.
Playing as five-eighth with the Blayney under 16s side, Aden Prosper is used to having a certain measure of control over the game, but he found his role during his successful debut at the CRL Country Plate Championships very different.
“You’re not organising it as much when you’re on the wing, you just keep up and wait for the ball to come your way,” he said.

The 12-point lead that Group 10 had acquired almost completely disappeared though when errors started to seep into the sides game play towards the final minutes.
“I think we made a few mistakes and let a few penalties through and let them back into the game,” Prosper said.
“I’m not sure if it was that we were fatigued or what it was but in the end we held it together.”
