People know that the plants here are acclimatised for a cool climate
- Jill Cole
One of the organisers, Jill Cole, said that both visitors and stallholders were thrilled by the expo.
“Feed back has been positive in every respect,” she said. “We had over 750 people pay to come visit us and when you add the many children who enjoyed the day, it was a great day and we were flat out nearly all day.”
Mrs Cole said that the secret to the success of the expo is that the nurseries all specialise in cool-climate planting and that local expertise is something that’s lacking at larger nurseries.
“People know that the plants here are acclimatised for a cool climate and they can speak to the actual growers,” she said
The expo also acts as a fundraiser for the Carcoar Hospital Museum and the crowds enjoyed a look around the heritage building.
“We had people in the museum up until 6pm and visitors were really loving having a look around,” she said.
The expo will now be a cemented in feature on the Carcoar calendar.
“All the nurseries have booked to return again next year and they even gave us a donation for the hospital museum,” Mrs Cole said.
