Phil Nankivell presented his annual report highlighting the success of the 2016 show thanking all stewards and members who worked tirelessly to present a great show in perfect weather conditions. He also commented on the improvements to the grounds thanks to the grants received by Blayney Shire Council from the State Government.
Numbers were down on previous years due to other events taking place in the area. However, it was still great to see good crowds enjoying the day’s activities.
The day also saw the completion of the 2015/2016 Blayney Showgirl Cynthia Burke role, handing over the reins to the new 2016/2017 Blayney Showgirl winner Annika Brown. Thank you to Cynthia for been a great representative for Blayney and Congratulations to Annika on winning this year’s Showgirl position.
An election of officers saw Rob Matthews take the chair and declare all positions vacant, calling for nominations to the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice Treasurer.
The Election saw Phil Nankivell elected unopposed as president, Hilton Davis, Rob Matthews and Bob Russ elected unopposed as Vice presidents, Helen Burton elected unopposed as secretary, Tamara Miller elected unopposed as Treasurer, and Phil Burton elected unopposed as Vice Treasurer.
Expansive Improvements to the grounds made a huge difference with a new fence having been erected around the outside of the trotting track and main arena making a vast visual improvement to the grounds. A big thanks to Blayney Shire Council and the State Government. The show society added to the cattle pavilion with a 4 bay skillion added to the existing shed. The work was carried out by ICR Engineering Blayney and will provide extra shed space for cattle. Improvements to the kitchen are also planned to be undertaken in the near future.
Our Annual Flower show was held in September in the Anglican Church hall with a good number of entries and Support. Thank you to Joan Stonestreet and her willing band of helpers for making the event such a great success.
