The only joy for the hosts came in the under 11’s fixture, where the junior Bears won through to the grand final courtesy of a tight 10-6 win over Bathurst Panthers.
The big winners on the day were Orange CYMS, the club celebrating as four teams progressed to their respective deciders, to be held at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Sporting Complex on Saturday, September 3.
The green and golds won the under 13s (42-6 v Eglington), under 14s (26-12 v Mudgee Dragons), under 15s (14-4 v Panthers) and under 16s (30-4 v Bathurst St Pat’s).
The day’s other results were Panthers 10-6 over Bloomfield Tigers in the under 12s while Mudgee White defeated Bloomfield 12-10 in the under 10s fixture.
Saturday’s preliminary finals will be played at Wade Park, Orange.
