MEMBERS of the Millthorpe community came together under near perfect conditions yesterday to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the landing in Gallipoli.

Led by members of the Canobolas Highland Pipe Band, the veterans and their families marched from Millthorpe Public School to the Millthorpe and District Roll of Honour at the entrance to Redmond Oval.
Recent renovations to the oval meant the crowd of about 200 had to gather into a smaller area than in previous years, but as in previous years, the number of students from Millthorpe Public School who attended the Anzac Day march continued to impress the veterans.
During the march school leaders Ethan Wilson, Tayla Hildenbeutel, Ella Truloff and Fergus Connick carried wreaths that were then laid at the base of the honour roll.
“I felt very proud to be a part of the march,” Ethan said.
Throughout the march the four students maintained a serious composure, and both Ella and Tayla said that it was probably due to nerves.
“I was little bit nervous during the march,” Ella said.
The students of the school’s senior choir sang Abide with Me, a traditional hymn sung at the end of Anzac Day ceremonies and made popular in the trenches during the First World War
