The 'Making it Happen in Blayney' committee has secured CVO's confirmation for Blayney to be the base from which buses will leave regularly for visitors to tour the mine's operations.
Blayney Shire Council last week resolved to open CentrePoint Sport & Leisure Centre on the day for free to all visitors.
CVO will hand out show bags and set up an extensive information display in the dry courts while markets will be set up outside CentrePoint.
Council's general manager Glenn Wilcox said: "Council has been promoting the event to village committees who may want to have stalls, too."
At the committee's last meeting on Tuesday evening, council's transport management plan was discussed allowing changes to parking near CentrePoint to accommodate an expected 800 cars.
Other ideas being discussed are for the Heritage Schools Art Exhibition to include work from St Joseph's Primary School and Orange and Bathurst artists and to go on show at the same time.
Abundant Life Church pastor Graeme Summerson, who is on the committee, has offered to organise youth musicians and singers from his church to perform at the event.
Acting committee chair David Kennedy said he was keen for Blayney shire businesses and groups who were keen to take part in the event as a stallholder to provide their email addresses CVO's Melissa Schumacher on 6393-1355 or email Melissa.Schumacher@newcrest.com.au
Ms Schumacher said she hoped the open day event was so successful, it would continue to run each year whether or not Blayney would be the base for CVO's annual tours.
Tickets for the open day are expected to go on sale from the Blayney Tourist Information Centre and online through CVO in September. A brochure highlighting activities and events on the day will be created and handed out with tickets.
The cost to tour the mine is expected to be a gold coin.
