A small group of volunteers along with Blayney High School students, Rotarians and Scouts from Blayney and Orange travelled around Millthorpe, Mandurama and Blayney on Sunday to raise funds for the annual appeal.
Chair of the Blayney Red Shield committee Len Rogers said a total of $4,001.90 was raised for the Salvos, meeting the $4,000 target set.
“This is a fantastic achievement and I wish to thank all those who donated,” he said.
Mr Rodgers said the Salvos were moving to increase their focus on the Blayney area and as much of the money that was raised as possible would go towards assisting residents in need in the local area.
“On behalf of the Salvation Army I wish to thank all the volunteers, particularly Anne Davies from Westpac Blayney, for giving up their Sunday morning to assist in making the collection an outstanding success,” Mr Rogers said.
Each year the Salvos provide support to over one million of the most vulnerable Australians.
The Red Shield Appeal is their major fundraising drive.
