On Saturday the under six side took on the Roosters in Orange.
It was a top game and we definitely had those Roosters crowing.
Kaydden was on the ball scoring the first try of the day, with Brody also diving over the line like a pro.
The Roosters couldn’t catch Cooper who ran like a trooper and scored.
Jack and Stirling were on fire with three tries each.
Jack P, Joey and Jordan were making some awesome tackles and Coby, Nick and Jack H had speed with some great runs.
The superstar player of the week was Coby.
UNDER 12’s MATCH REPORT
This week we got to take on the Mudgee team that toweled us up last week on their own turf.
All the boys put in a stellar performance on Saturday but we went down 12-nil.
The kids dug deep and showed an improvement of about 200 per-cent. The defence was outstanding especially in the second half where we kept Mudgee scoreless.
There were a few occasions where our ball control was pretty ordinary but all in all it was a great effort by the team.
Tyler Hobby and Zac Lees are our two smallest blokes but each week defend like big forwards and run like 100kg centre’s.
Ryley Oborn always gets through heaps of defenders and runs the ball whenever asked.
Tim Sullivan and Jordan Little started off in the centre’s and were called on to do plenty of tackling, as was Jeremy Hunter and Dillon Ritchie, who also had plenty of Mudgee players running at them.
Jeremy was unlucky not to have scored a couple of tries as well.
Clae Adams, Samuel Hunter and Ross McPaul came off the bench and held their own throughout the game with plenty of defence in the middle and taking their turn to hit the ball up the guts.
Henry and Jordan Hobby swapped rolls around in the middle, playing both hooker and second row, where both pulled off same big hits at the right time.
Matt Reeks and Connor Smith got through plenty of work both in attack and defence.
Kailen Graham steered the boys around well and had a solid kicking game which turned the big Mudgee boys around plenty of times.
Tom Hotham ran the ball well in the forwards and did his bit to stop the hard running Mudgee boys.
This week we have the pleasure of traveling back to Mudgee to take part in the carnival where we will probably get to play three games of footy so this will give the boys plenty of time on the paddock.
It was a big improvement last Saturday so let’s hope this is a sign for future. So well done on a big effort, good work.
UNDER 13’s MATCH REPORT
The under 13’s travelled to Mudgee and although the score line was quite big, this doesn't reflect how the boys played.
We started well with Lachie Farr, crossing the line out wide to put us ahead early on.
With the conversion attempt missed this put the score to 4-0.
A long field try by the Mudgee halfback under the post put them up 6-4.
The boys rallied back with great runs by Tyson Henry, Jesse Cheney, Bailey Perkins and Lachlan Robertson putting us in a scoring position and Lachie Farr crossing the line for his second try.
The conversion was once again missed and this made the score 8-6.
Mudgee pulled back through and put on two quick tries to make the score 14-8.
This is where the boys really put on some tough defence, with all the boys working hard for each other and dominating in defence.
This forced the error and the boys crossed the line right on half time with a well earned try to Michael Toohey.
The conversion was missed once again and this made the score 12-14 at half time.
Blayney had the ball first up in the second half and with Jack Zideluns punching above his weight in the forwards and always putting his hand up, and Jake Bell taking some very good runs, the boys were beginning to get on top of the Mudgee team.
But a couple of mistakes allowed Mudgee to capitalise and put on two early tries, the score was now 22-12.
The boys knew they had to have a couple of big defensive sets and so they did.
Tyson Henry, Lachlan Robertson and Jesse Cheney rallied the boys and got up and put the pressure on Mudgee, realising they couldn’t break through the middle, they decided to go wide, but with Bryce Ryan, Jake Monoghan and Brody Hewitt on the edges, it was hard going for Mudgee. Blayney had the ball and with a wicked bounce, Jake Monoghan pounced on the ball and made for the try line, only to be ran down in the last two metres.
This was as close as Blayney got in the second half, but the boys all put in for each other and was a great game of footy.
The score ended up 42-12.
Michael Toohey received player’s player.
A special thanks to the under 12 boys - Kailen Graham, Jordy Hobby and Connor Smith for backing up.
We have this week off, but we'll come back harder than ever.
BLAYNEY UNDER 16’s MATCH REPORT
Blayney played Kandos on Saturday May 21 and won 48-16.
Our try scorers were Simon Ewin, Zac Monney, Joel Shortland, Kiran Tranter and Brett Farrell with one each and Brandan Hahn with four. Our goal scorer was Simon Ewin with 6.
Blayney travelled to Mudgee on Saturday and came away with a win in a very close match.
Mudgee scored first and Blayney fought back.
Joel Shortland fought through defenders and slammed in for Blayney’s first try to make the score 6-4, Mudgee’s way.
Brandan Hahn made a try saving tackle mid way through the first half, which at the end of the day proved to be a match winner for the Bears.
Zac Mooney scored under the post and Casey Wallace converted.
The second half saw Liam Slatter score and Simon Ewin convert.
Brandon Beachamp found form taking up the ball and good in defence, Tim Wright was good on the wing for the bears.
Marcus Burrell, James Taylor and the brickwall Liam Slatter kept the Mudgee boys struggling to get over the line.
Mudgee did manage to score though and take the lead 20-16.
Little maestro Brett Farrell worked his magic to score the equaliser.
Leaving the match winning goal on the boot of Casey Wallace had no trouble slotting the ball straight between the sticks to give Blayney the win 22-20.
HOUSEKEEPING
Last Sunday the club hosted the CYMS vs. St Pats under 18’s, Reserve and First Grade sides.
The cold weather didn’t keep the people away with a large crowd turning up to see some great footy.
It was also good to see some of our former Blayney Junior League players on the field in their senior teams.
Thanks to all the volunteers who assisted on the grounds and in the canteen.
The day proved to be another great success in fundraising for the club.
Last Monday night Group 10 held a League Safe course at the Royal Hotel Blayney.
There were a total of 32 people in attendance made up of players, parents and supporters.
It was great to see so many of our young players willing to learn and give back to their club and we look forward to seeing them helping out on the field.
Even though there is a general bye for teams this week there is still some footy to be played for some teams.
There are two carnivals on Saturday - under 6 to under 9 Blayney mini league teams at Eglinton and compulsory under 11’s and 12’s at Mudgee.
The carnival draws will be done this week and match times will be given at training today.
We also have some of our older players off to Leeton this weekend to represent Group 10 in the under 15 and 16 Cluster Championship.
They are – Kieran Traintor, Liam Slatter, Casey Wallace and Brandon Hahn.
The club would like to wish them all good luck and safe travelling.
There is still plenty of club merchandise available - please see Lisa Oborn at training if you wish to purchase any merchandise.
The next meeting will be held at the Royal Hotel on Wednesday June 8 at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
See you at training!
