Josh Maley, manager of CentrePoint Sport and Leisure, said that the pools are usually painted every three years depending on their condition.
"It's our two quietest weeks of the year because there's no swim school and people go on holidays," he said.
"We had a Nintendo Wii day last Wednesday which was good so we had other school holiday activities instead."
CentrePoint board member, Cr Allan Ewin, said that the repainting was the start of an ongoing maintenance program planned for the centre.
"Over the next two years while we are councillors we endeavour to fix the maintenance issues at the centre,” he said.
“We want people to come and support the centre.”
Cr Ewin said that the repairs to the centre’s roof were one of the main priorities.
The centre’s board also hopes to refurbish the amenities and change rooms by the end of the two years and may also look at upgrading the dry courts area in the centre.
Cr Ewin said the large pool was in very good condition despite its age with only minor repairs needed to fill small cracks before it was repainted.
The water that was emptied from the pools was recycled by Cadia Valley Operations.
