That shortage though is exactly why Orange based Townsend Real Estate is opening in Blayney. And it's not the first time that principal Steve Townsend has operated a business in Blayney either.
And we've always had a soft spot for Blayney ever since those days.
- Steve Townsend
"My wife Kath and I were partners in a farm supplies business in Blayney about 30 years ago," he said, "And we've always had a soft spot for Blayney ever since those days."
"When we began Townsend Real Estate in 2014 we began managing about 20 properties in Blayney so we kind of reconnected with the town in that time."
That reconnection has now grown to the point where it was deemed good business sense to open an office in Blayney, to be managed by a local familiar face.
"There has been such a huge increase in enquiries from Blayney and about Blayney that we thought that we should just bite the bullet and open down here," he said. "And because I've known Mel Flynn for a number of years she was the obvious choice to run the business here as office and property manager."
With a business also in Molong operating as Molong Real Estate the Townsends are familiar with the differences between smaller communities and Orange. Particularly when it comes to how they interact with real estate agents.
"The property market is strong everywhere but historically communities like Blayney and Molong have always been strong and mining developments like Regis, the Nestle factory expansion and other developments will only make Blayney stronger and stronger."
Townsend Real Estate will be officially opening in Blayney in early 2022.
