Temporary parklets, EV charging stations at the railway station and traffic calming controls on Victoria Street are just some of the ideas within the Millthorpe Village Centre Master Plan that have passed muster by a majority of the 130 respondents to the original concept plans.

Submitted by the Place Design Group the concept plans that were presented by webinar in September included the options of turning Pym Street into a one way street and also as a pedestrian only mall.
Both of those ideas have been struck off the agenda, although the issues of traffic on Victoria Street and parking throughout the village centre are a major part of the new update which has been released by Blayney Shire Council.
Both in amount and the quality of that feedback it appears that the consultation has been successful.
- Nick Anagnostaras.
Victoria Street is a major thoroughfare for vehicles travelling through the village towards the Cadia Valley Operations gold mine, and along with the intersection at Park Street near the post office, the intersection at Pym Street is one that is recognised as having the potential for improvement.
A High Pedestrian Activity Area at the corner of Victoria and Pym Street, which would be resurfaced and treated in a sympathetic heritage style, is one of the key themes of the update and is a response to traffic speed being identified as a major concern for pedestrian safety, businesses and residents.
Traffic calming devices in Victoria Street may include speed humps, the introduction of a 30km/hr high pedestrian zone, line marking to clearly identify traffic lanes and angled parking to improve driver behaviour and vehicle placement in addition to discouraging through traffic in the village.
The plan is to encourage through traffic to use Glenorrie Road rather than Victoria Street which would become in effect the initial streetscape met by many visitors.
The idea of a roundabout at the intersection of Park Street and Victoria Street has not been included in the concept plans because Park Street comes under the control of Transport for NSW and isn't under the scope of this report.
"It would be good to pursue a Transport for NSW assessment and let them come back with a recommendation with potential solutions to that intersection," said the President of the Millthorpe Village Committee Nick Anagnostaras.
"And when those assessments come back in we can then sit down and discuss those."
Overall Mr Anagnostaras is positive about how the master plan is progressing.
"Both in amount and the quality of that feedback it appears that the consultation has been successful," he said.
"The scope of the project now seems to to addressing some of the key issues brought up in the feedback and it's a good result in the middle of the process."
