When the old soil conservation building was converted into the Blayney Library there was no internet, no disabled access nor were there any interior toilets.

The only thing that has changed since the building was built in the early 1970's is internet access, and recently the carpets and shelving.
Out the back of the library the separate men's and ladies toilets still stand.

Rudimentary at best, the brick toilets are only inviting to redbacks, and the gaps at the top and bottom are perfect for the winter winds to come howling in.
Whether or not the toilets were built in this way to deter anyone trialling a book or two before borrowing, their time is up, and thanks to a grant from the NSW Government's Resources for Regions Program the new facilities are expected to be ready by the end of June.
Librarian Ruth Bingham is understandingly welcoming the construction that's underway.
"There will be new accessible toilets as well as a staff kitchenette and storage space, as well as new automatic doors at the front." she said.
