Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has announced the club would receive a Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) grant of $64,100 to give its bowling greens a much-needed makeover.
"A facility such as the Millthorpe Bowling Club is important to the town and this funding will ensure the main green is in tip top condition," he said.
Greenkeeper Peter Mullins agreed the announcement was perfectly timed as the work could begin now that there's warmer weather with the main aim being to refurbish the main green as well as installing new gutters, synthetic turf in certain areas and sand to the ditches.
"We also want to put up some shade cloth shelters around the perimeter of the greens to protect players from the hot summer sun," he said.
