The Swap Meet was held on Sunday, February 9 and attracted a good number of regular, stalwart stall holders that usually come and a discouraged some but nevertheless the BBQ was reasonably successful.
The threat of rain for the Sunday was upper most in the minds of the organisers and attendees!
The big problem came the next day when the rain came down!
On the Sunday it was a cold and miserable day to start with and then got worse.
The photos show a muddy ground for customers and many stalls not even bothering to uncover their wares.
The day finished early and most people packed up and went home.
The Gladstone Hotel had organized a band for the afternoon and this proved popular for people to enjoy some refreshment and music on a wet and cold Swap Meet afternoon.
The results for the day was a very small profit for the Newbridge Progress Association, and we thank all those who turned up.
You can see from the pictures the general atmosphere of the day.
A big thank you to Jan Dickie, Bob Dickie and Sally Angel for organising the day and also to all the volunteers who helped on that wet day!
Newbridge Winter Solstice
Preparations for the Winter Solstice Festival are progressing, with prospects of the day being a very bright entertainment feature on the village calendar.
The Winter Solstice Festival will be held on June 20, 2020.
Celebrating the shortest day of the year, which is actually 21st by close enough.
The streets are filled with medieval fun and games, English-style street market, Viking sword fight demonstrations as well as children's sword fighting activities.
A community bonfire kicks off on the Gladstone Green at the Newbridge Hotel for the burning of the wicker man. It is a tradition to throw a small wicker man into the fire to cleanse the energy and start anew as the days lengthen towards spring.
