We sit down with the man of the hour, Santa Claus, to chat with him about what helps him and what hinders him in the lead up to the biggest day on his calendar year, Christmas.
Where does your passion for giving come from?
I have always wanted to spread cheer and good tidings to the people around me and, with Christmas Day, I get to share my happiness with the world. My kind and generous wife, Mrs Claus, is just as passionate about making sure every child is brought the gift of Christmas cheer each year and I certainly couldn't do my job without her unwavering support.
Is there anything about Christmas that you don't like?
I suppose it's hard for me to see people worry about missing out on what they want. Christmas should be a time to be with friends and family, as they are the greatest gift of all. Anything else, including gifts, are just icing on the Christmas cake.
Do you have a speech prepared to get the elves motivated for wrapping gifts?
Of course! We all sit down in the week before Christmas for a team meeting. I let everyone know that each and every one is an integral part of Christmas and, without them, none of this would be possible. We all treat each other like one, big family and I am forever grateful for their efforts.
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
It's like the opening night of a theatre show - there will be some mistakes and things might not run as smoothly as I would hope but I know that Mrs Claus, the elves and my trusty reindeer are supporting me the whole way. I feel so much braver and stronger with them all by my side.
How do you celebrate Christmas?
Well, because I have spent the evening travelling up and down and all around the world, I like to have a big sleep-in! I think, this year, Mrs Claus and I will pick some of our homegrown vegetables from the greenhouse and cook up a little feast for lunch. It's always so special to be able to spend time with loved ones and that's exactly what I plan to do.
Is it possible for someone to get swapped from the 'naughty' to the 'nice' list?
Of course! All you have to do is be kind to your friends and family and spread as much genuine Christmas cheer as you can.
What's your favourite midnight snack?
I like a little bit of sweet and a little bit of savoury. If you are thinking of leaving out a treat, don't forget my trusty steeds - I know the reindeer are partial to any kind of fruit or vegetable and Rudolph especially enjoys blueberries.
