Garden Ramble Roundup

The sixteenth year of the Garden Ramble was made possible by the hard-working Ramble Committee, the generous people who opened their gardens, much-appreciated support from local businesses, and the army of 100 volunteers. An estimated 1400+ ramblers made for a very successful weekend. The variety of garden styles had something for every taste, from the quirky cottage style, to expansive country estates. 'Spotto' for children, stalls with a range of offerings, live music, and lucky-gate prizes, were some of the additional attractions at various gardens. Next year's Ramble will be the weekend of 31 October - 1 November.

Millthorpe Village Committee Projects

In collaboration with Blayney Shire Council, the year has already seen a number of projects completed. These include tree plantings along Vittoria Road, Park Street, the dog-running park, and various in-fills around the village. A picnic bench has also been installed in the dog-running park. The completion of a camellia garden along the southern edge of Convent Lane to match the earlier one along the northern edge has made this a delightful pedestrian avenue. Mill Green has also had attention to its lawn, edgings and pathways, in preparation for the Ramble weekend. The MVC is always looking for ways to enhance the village in which we are fortunate to live.

Belubula Headwaters Protection Group

The group's tag line, 'Water is more precious than gold' seems to have struck a nerve with a number of locals and stimulated coffee-shop conversations on the pros and cons of water security, environmental impacts, and a large gold mine.
