Closed for the past seven years the original timber structure is being replaced by a solid concrete version that should be open before the end of the year.
Other options considered included a wet-crossing and a much longer bridge costing proportionally more.

Costing $400,000 and paid for out of the council's funds, the single lane bridge will reunite the twin tourist towns of Carcoar and Millthorpe along a direct route, albeit partially on a gravel road.
Blayney mayor Scott Ferguson said that the bridge's construction meant that apart from the much smaller Leabeater's Street bridge in Lyndhurst, there were no major timber bridges left in the shire.
"This is a big achievement and will create a real tourist drive through some great countryside between Millthorpe and Carcoar," he said.
Cr Ferguson added that there are no immediate plans to seal the gravel section of the road.
